I cannot express how envious I am over my European pals on devArt and LJ who already have the Star Trek DVD. Two more weeks...!
I'll try to get by with my freshly-purchased copies of Wrath of Khan, Search for Spock, and The Voyage Home (yay for awesome coupons at Borders!)

Um...I'm also kind of hypothetically making a fanmix? Allegedly?
It can't decide if it wants to be all-serious or all-crack so it's like half-and-half at this point. I think my complete inability to be even a little serious is coming into play here. WHATEVS.
I'm restraining myself so hard from including this song just to make it that much MORE GAY AND SILLYFACE.

I finally finished watching all the TOS movies! Now to finish up the second and third seasons on youtube...

To recap:
<rant>Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Good Lord, where to begin? This movie had me going "What the hell even is this??" from beginning to end. (Granted, it did have its share of cute moments: Camping!Trio, Chekov making blizzard noises into the communicator, Spock going "DAMN YOU SIR" at the Klingon when Kirk's in trouble And...and I think that old!Scotty/Uhura is cute. SO SUE ME. Other than that total weirdness. I mean, Sybok. Sybok! There is a reason Vulcan's suppress the hell out of their emotions - it's because when they don't, they do crazynuts stuff like hijack spaceships to fly into the center of the galaxy to find God. How I wish I was kidding. I'm just going to pretend this movie was like Kirk's bad dream or something (actually, it would almost have been better if he'd woken up at the end, Wizard of Oz style, and been like "and you were there, and you, and you..."</rant>

BUT! Undiscovered Country was actually a pretty good movie. Kirk's whole "UGH KLINGONS GRRR" thing was kind of overplayed, but it had a fun murder-mystery quality to it that I liked. And Iman was it in! (I love her voice)

PS, I also watched William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy Together On Stage on youtube. People, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and watch it. It's a freaking adorable lovefest from start to finish. Shatner and Nimoy, can you two be my new grandfathers? I think it would work out just fine.

Today I made another oh-so-profitable trip to Ye Olde Local Used Bookstore and got another fabulous haul of Trek stuff. (Seriously, the one in my town is a veritable Trek goldmine, it's so insane)

First of all, I walk into the store and what do I see? WHY THIS OF COURSE:




IT'S KIRK'S CAPTAIN'S CHAIR FROM TOS! I DON'T KNOW WHY I DIDN'T BRING MY CAMERA BUT I SWEAR IT LOOKED JUST LIKE THIS ONE AND IT HAD COLORFUL SWITCHES AND BUTTONS AND I WANTED TO SIT IN IT BUT IT WAS ROPED OFF AND THEY WOULDN'T LET ME. D:<

I ended up buying a bunch of TOS trading cards (hey, don't look at me like that, they were only like $0.59 a pack) and some more paperbacks. I got the novelizations of the first three movies (OH MAN I am looking forward to reading the Star Trek: The Motion Picture novel with all the t'hy'la stuff GUH) and this gem, because doesn't the title totally makes it sound like a Hardy Boys book?



The tagline is the best part: "Captain Kirk becomes an interplanetary homicide detective!" I also love how the drawing on the cover has nothing whatsoever to do with the title of the book. What is that thing Spock's fighting, anyway??

Also I finally got Kirk and Cadet!Bones figures at Target - I need to post some pictures of them playing! Wow, I'm a huge nerd now I guess.

1.) Watched Amok Time? CHECK! I read the phrase "What time is it? AMOK TIME!" so many times yesterday that "What Time Is It" from High School Musical is now stuck in my head. AGAIN. [link] YES I AM A WOMAN IN HER TWENTIES WHO WATCHES HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT.

2.) Watched The Ship's Closet Premiere? CHECK!

3.) Looked at beauteous fanart? CHECK!



4.) Watched The Search for Spock FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER? DOUBLE CHECK!! OH GOOD LORD THIS MOVIE. IT SLAYED ME. IT REDUCED ME TO A PUDDLE OF USELESS MUSH. GUH.

Here are some highlights for you: (with maybe some of my usual incoherent liveblogging thrown in for good measure)

OMG IT'S SAREK! You guys know I love Sarek so so very much, but the part where Sarek bitches out Kirk, mind melds with him, then is like "Oh. Sorry I snapped at you." was AMAZING. ILU BB.

McCoy desperately trying (and epically failing) at nerve-pinching that guy. McCoy, is there anything you do that isn't completely adorable? BECAUSE I DON'T THINK THERE IS.

"Don't call me Tiny." THERE IS NO ONE WHO IS MORE OF A GQBAMF THAN YOU, SULU. NO ONE.

"Up your shaft!" FOR THAT MATTER, SCOTTY AS WELL.

AND DON'T MESS WITH UHURA EITHER, YOU LITTLE PANTYWASTE. GOD THE ENTERPRISE CREW IS COMPOSED ENTIRELY OF BAMFS.
